Which refugees are you helping?

Most of the 380 families we have helped have escaped from the Taliban regime in Afghanistan, as well as many who have fled from Ukraine where they have left everything back home while escaping the Russian invasion. We have also helped families from Congo, Kazakhstan, Iran, Iraq and many other families who have come to Canada in search of freedom.

Can I get a tax receipt?

We are able to offer charitable receipts for monetary donations under the umbrella of the Jewish Family Services of Ottawa. Choose “House to Home” from the drop down list under “Apply your donation to a fund set up by this charity”.

What are your hours? When is the warehouse open?

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 10-3. Thursday, Friday by appointment only Every second Saturday 10-2

Can I drop something off at the warehouse?

Yes, during drop off hours.

Is there a fee to have an item picked up for donation

Yes, there is a fee for pick up. Our fees are determined by a set a fee per item and additional charges depending on accessibility and location.

Do you charge the refugees to furnish their homes?

There is no charge for household furnishings. There is however a delivery fee of $80 per person ($40 for those under 2 years old) with a $150 minimum and a $500 maximum for families up to 10 people.

What is the cost for junk removal?

Junk removal will follow similar pricing as the pick up chart, however there may be an extra disposal fee depending on how many items there are.

How much will it cost to have you downsize my home?

A 2000 square foot home will range between $1400-1700.

A 2 bedroom apartment/condo to a retirement home will range from $1000-1200.

A 1 bedroom apartment to a retirement home will range from $800-1000.

This includes donating, moving and disposal.

These prices do not include packing and may be higher or lower depending on the amount of furniture in each individual household.

We are happy to come out and give an estimate.

What is the cost to help with an estate?

Estate moving is based on an individual basis, please call to book an estimate.

I am a refugee, how can I get furniture?

You will then receive a form to fill in and set up an appointment to choose your household items and furniture. Your furniture will be delivered within 72 hours of your warehouse visit.

I am a refugee, can I pick up my own furniture?

Yes, you may pick up your own furniture from Monday to Friday 10-2 pm.
