Our Story

Our Mission

House to Home is a grassroots, interfaith, nonprofit providing community donated furnishings to refugees arriving in Ottawa.

We give dignity, security, and comfort to Ottawa’s newcomers.

We believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to make their house a home.

Who do you help?

The families we have helped are refugees from Afghanistan, Syria and Ukraine.

We have also helped families from Congo, Iran, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Cameroon and many other families who have come to Canada in search of safety.

How we began

What started as one Mitzvah (good deed), quickly became an interfaith humanitarian project.

In 2020, Suzi Shore Sauvé started House to Home out of her garage. With the help of an acquaintance, they found supplies to help over 20 refugee families.

Little did they know they were building something much bigger.

Growing a community

From the launch of a Facebook page requesting items for a new family arriving to Ottawa to building a supportive community of donors and volunteers.

House to Home quickly outgrew their garages (and friends’ garages!).

We moved into a 10,400 square foot warehouse space sponsored by Brigil Construction.

We are currently operating from Westgate Shopping Centre, a space sponsored by RioCan.

A growing need in Ottawa

Our staff team is comprised of newcomers from Afghanistan who do phenomenal work to furnish hundreds of refugees' homes each year.

There is great demand for these services in Ottawa.

While we have been powered by volunteers and receive donated items from the community, House to Home still can’t meet all the needs of the refugee communities we serve.

Our warehouse

The House to Home warehouse has become a hub for 30+ volunteers both on site and behind the scenes.

Our team is responsible for pick ups and deliveries, sorting and organizing donated items, building welcome bundles, and so much more.

Our future

Hundreds of refugees arrive to Ottawa each year –  most with only the clothes on their backs.

House to Home needs a revenue stream to purchase new items to create homes that give dignity, security and comfort.

Our goal is to ensure that refugees are safe, comfortable and at home in Canada as quickly as possible.

Our dinnerware sets for families to choose.

Donate Today

Your donations allow us to purchase families mattresses, pillows, tool kits, irons, vaccuums and much more.

Donations pay for our operational costs such as  our moving truck rental, paying our 3 full staff , heat, hydro, office expenses and insurance.

We currently accept donations by e-transfer: Suzi@h2hottawa.com.
